Here’s an inquiry we received last week:
I drive a 2018 Porsche Macan. Recently, the service indicator turned on. With just over 18,000 miles on the odometer, I called the local dealership to find out what was needed. I was told a two-year maintenance service was due and the estimate provided was $1,300. Is ATX Autosport able to perform this service? Will I be at risk of voiding my warranty if the work is not performed at the dealer’s service department? This is my first Porsche and I want to make sure I’m making good decisions now to avoid future problems.
Thank you,
EA

Hello, EA.
Based on the information you provided, I would agree that a two-year sounds about right. However, even if the standard dealership premium is accepted as the baseline, the estimate seems high. My guess is that you were provided pricing for a major/four-year rather than an intermediate/two-year maintenance service. As a comparison, I typically see figures for the former at $1,200-$1,400 with the latter at $600-$800. While it wouldn’t hurt to perform the larger maintenance service early, there really isn’t an upside either.
To be clear, augmenting published maintenance schedules is not uncommon and should be evaluated as needed. Vehicles that are consistently pushed to the limits in severe environments like motorsport circuits, or extreme hot or cold climates should be considered candidates for modified programs. However, your daily-driven Macan is a simple matter. In light of the added cost and the waste of remaining useful life on the components you would be discarding prematurely, I recommend going with the intermediate option.
As an independent provider, ATX Autosport can carry out scheduled maintenance services without complicating future warranty claims with the manufacturer. While meticulous technical work in the shop is the foundation of our success, we understand that detailed record keeping can be the deciding factor between approved and denied warranty claims. Care is taken to comprehensively document any work we perform.
These are excellent questions to be working through early in the relationship with your Porsche. Without a doubt, planning a proper program followed by correctly timed and executed maintenance services will allow for a more enjoyable experience with your machine over time.
